I forbindelse med tariffoppgjør er det vanlige at LOs representantskap innkalles to ganger i året: I forkant av oppgjøret for å vedta retningslinjer foran tariffoppgjøret. I etterkant for å godkjenne utfallet av tariffoppgjøret. <br />

==Representantskapets mandat==<br />
LOs representantskap behandler årsregnskap og årsberetning, inklusiv revisjonsberetning og kontrollkomitéens beretning for de tre første regnskapsårene i kongressperioden. (Det fjerde regnskapsåret behandles på Kongressen).<br />

Virksomhetsberetningene for kongressperiodens tre første år behandles og innstilles videre til kongressen. <br />
Videre behandler og vedtar LOs representantskap generelle retningslinjer for LOs tariffpolitikk, godkjenner opptak av nye forbund som ønsker å bli medlem av LO, foretar eventuelle suppleringsvalg til sekretariatet og velger valgkomite til kongressen. <br />
